Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the nation's largest and oldest electric utilities, launched the Edison SmartConnect smart metering system for a cleaner energy future. Ascentium worked with SCE to create interactive experiences that help customers reduce their carbon footprint and understand the energy value they receive from SCE through SmartConnect.
Collaborating on experience design and technology, Ascentium designed a portal that makes the SmartConnect program accessible through a secure wireless connection andvia the Web. With SmartConnect, consumers can cut their costs up to 1,000 megawatts with a few clicks and gain remote, immediate access to SCE. It is estimated that SmartConnect, one of the most advanced systems of its kind, will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a minimum of 365,000 metric tons per year.
