National Award-Winning Digital Talent Steve Farrell Joins Ascentium as Executive Creative Director
New lead creative role follows successful stint at Publicis Modem
Seattle, Feb. 15, 2011 — Ascentium, The Experience Agency™, announced today that Steve Farrell, whose agency and client portfolio spans from Publicis Modem to Digitas with leading brands such as HBO, the NBA, LG Electronics and American Express, is the new Executive Creative Director of the digital agency.
Farrell is responsible for strengthening Ascentium’s overall creative excellence across all its offices, and for expanding its base of Fortune 250 clients. The acquisition of Farrell continues to demonstrate Ascentium’s growth, building upon its successful relationships with clients such as Microsoft, T-Mobile and MasterCard. In 2010 Ad Age ranked Ascentium as the #4 independent agency in the U.S.
“Steve brings world-class creative talent and a level of strategic leadership that inspires our clients and staff. He literally radiates compelling stories, technical innovation and long-term vision. He was digital from the start, not a convert, so he truly understands how the digital medium intersects with and enhances people’s lives in meaningful ways,” said Curt Doolittle, CEO, Ascentium.
“Attracting leadership talent like Steve has been the culmination of a two year ambition for us. He is one of a very few people in the world with the creativity, skill and ambition to lead an agency with our purely digital history,” Doolittle added.
Farrell most recently led a multidiscipline creative staff of more than 40 people as EVP/Executive Creative Director at Publicis Modem New York. During his three-year tenure, he helped to nearly double the office’s business and led award-winning creative efforts with clients such as Cartier, Heineken, Hasbro, LG and Citibank, including the agency’s first award recognition in mobile advertising.
Prior to that, as VP/Director of Digital Media at MTV Networks, Farrell helped build Spike Digital Entertainment from a basic web presence into a viable media property for the channel and launched their first slate of original short form programming and their first foray into mobile. Farrell’s background also includes VP/Creative Director for six years at Digitas, where he led digital marketing engagements for clients like American Express, Pfizer, the NBA and HBO.
“What attracted me to Ascentium is the collaborative culture across all disciplines. The team is very smart and very passionate about digital, and it’s a great environment for taking their deep background in technology and user-centric design, and creating great, game-changing digital experiences for our clients” said Farrell.
Farrell holds a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He was recently involved with the UK-based nonprofit The Great Football Giveaway where he traveled with a group of volunteers to Tanzania to fundraise and distribute footballs to some of the world’s most disadvantaged kids.
